What is Anastrozole?
Anastrozole is a prescription drug originally developed to treat breast cancer in post-menopausal women. It works by reducing the amount of oestrogen the body produces. In fitness circles, it's widely used to keep oestrogen in check during steroid cycles.

How Does It Work?
Anastrozole is an aromatase inhibitor. It blocks the aromatase enzyme, which is responsible for converting testosterone into oestrogen. Less aromatase activity means lower oestrogen levels in the body.
What It's Used For
- Controlling oestrogen levels during anabolic steroid cycles
- Preventing water retention and bloating caused by high oestrogen
- Reducing the risk of gynaecomastia (breast tissue growth in men)
What to Expect
Anastrozole works quickly — most users notice a reduction in water retention and bloating within a few days. It helps keep oestrogen in a healthy range rather than crashing it completely. The result is a leaner, drier physique during a cycle.
Possible Side Effects
- Joint pain and stiffness if oestrogen drops too low
- Reduced libido from overly suppressed oestrogen
- Fatigue and low mood if oestrogen levels crash
Cycle & Dosage Notes
Anastrozole is typically run alongside aromatising steroids such as testosterone throughout the cycle. Most men start at 0.5mg every other day and adjust based on how they feel or based on bloodwork. It's not usually needed during post-cycle therapy unless oestrogen remains elevated.
Storage
Keep at room temperature (15–25°C), away from light and moisture. Leave in the original packaging.
