What is Zopiclone?
Zopiclone is a sleep aid that helps people fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer. It was developed to treat short-term insomnia and sleep disturbances. It belongs to a class of drugs called cyclopyrrolones, which work on the brain to promote sleep.

How Does It Work?
Zopiclone works by boosting the effect of a calming chemical in the brain called GABA. This slows down brain activity, making it easier to fall asleep and reducing night-time waking. It acts quickly, usually within 30 minutes of taking it.
What It's Used For
- Short-term treatment of insomnia
- Difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep
- Sleep disruption caused by stress or anxiety
What to Expect
Most people feel drowsy within 30 minutes and sleep for 7–8 hours. You may notice a slightly bitter or metallic taste in your mouth the next morning — this is normal. With correct use, you should wake up feeling rested rather than groggy.
Possible Side Effects
- Bitter or metallic taste in the mouth
- Dry mouth or mild drowsiness the next day
- Dependence or withdrawal symptoms if used for too long
Cycle & Dosage Notes
Zopiclone is intended for short-term use only — typically 2 to 4 weeks. Using it longer than this increases the risk of dependence and reduced effectiveness. It should not be combined with alcohol or other sedatives.
Storage
Keep at room temperature (15–25°C), away from light and moisture. Leave in the original packaging.
